摘要
•Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE)1 was significantly more abundant in subcutaneous than epididymal or interscapular brown fat depots, whereas brown fat was richer in ACE2, angiotensin II types 1 and 2 receptors (AT1R and AT2R).•The high-fat, sucrose-enriched obesogenic diet significantly elevated AT1R content in brown fat and subcutaneous fat, and attenuated Mas receptor expression in the latter fat depot.•The ketogenic diet favored the counterregulatory arm of the renin–angiotensin system by decreasing the content of ACE1 in epididymal fat and significantly elevating AT2R in the subcutaneous and epididymal fat pads.•Although renin–angiotensin system protein expression was fat depot-specific, the obesogenic diet significantly elevated proteins in the classical arm of the renin–angiotensin system, whereas the ketogenic diet enhanced the counterregulatory arm.
