摘要

•A two-stage model combined with the latest MODIS AOD is applied to estimate PM2.5.•The model showed good performance on estimating annual, seasonal and monthly PM2.5.•The PM2.5 in the study area displayed obvious temporal and spatial characteristics.•The annual mean PM2.5 exhibited a sharp decline occurred from 2015 to 2017.
