Post-sterilisation regret and its management
Obstetrics, Gynaecology & Reproductive Medicine(2022)
摘要
Although tubal sterilisation remains a popular contraceptive choice, post-procedural regret presents a significant risk with potential serious psychological sequelae. For women wishing reversal, surgical tubal re-anastomosis offers an effective treatment to restore tubal patency and natural fertility, especially in younger women. Decisions regarding management are however complex and with the rapidly expanding field of artificial reproductive technology (ART), surgical reversal risks becoming a lost art. Prospective randomised controlled trial data comparing both the success rates and costs of different surgical reversal techniques and ART is required to inform patient choice and also future reproductive specialist training.
