•Flavonoids was core components of PO for anti-cevical cancer.•POF combined with cisplatin showed stronger anti-cevical cancer effect.•POF and cisplatin shared common targets related to apoptosis in cervical cancer.•The mechanism was related to inducing apoptosis through PI3K/Akt signaling pathway.
