摘要

•RI sensitivity of SF-MZI has been enhanced by employing Aluminium metal coating.•It exhibited the highest sensitivity of 1.47 nm/ppm for F− ion reported so far.•Variations in extinction ratio are correlated with imaginary RI of the modes.•Unique identification number has been proposed for Fluoride ion present in water.
