摘要
Systemic lupus erythematosus is a debilitating autoimmune disease affecting nearly 1.5 million persons in the United States. It is 3 to 4 times more prevalent among Black and Hispanic females than White females. Those affected with systemic lupus erythematosus experience multisystemic organ dysfunction such as lupus nephritis, resulting in poor outcomes and significant mortality. The purpose of the study was to explore the participant’s life experiences, challenges faced, and influences on health outcomes. The findings of the study by Broadway-Duren were consistent with common themes found in the literature review.
