Investigating the challenges of teaching sex education to autistic learners: A qualitative exploration of teachers’ experiences

•Teaching sex education to autistic learners is challenging due to Pedagogical Restrictions.•Inadequate sex education can lead to inappropriate sexual behaviours in autistic learners.•Ideally, sex education would be tailored individually to autistic learners, but this is unrealistic.•A lack of sex education can lead to autistic individuals being considered as lesser than neurotypical peers.
