Summary of Transformer Winding Deformation Detection and Monitoring Methods

In recent years, with the gradual increase of transformer capacity, winding deformation caused by external short-circuit of transformers has become one of the main reasons that threaten the safety of transformers. Detecting the transformer winding deformation in time and discovering potential fault can prevent the winding deformation from further deteriorating and affecting the normal operation of the transformer, thereby ensuring the safety and reliability of the power grid. This paper summarizes and compares various methods of transformer winding deformation diagnosis. First, the principle and characteristics of the transformer winding deformation offline detection method are summarized. Then, the main research results of the transformer winding deformation online monitoring in recent years are reviewed. Finally, the future development trend of the transformer winding deformation diagnosis method is prospected.
