摘要

•Potential capacity of local food systems to provide vegetable diet supply was analysed.•Metropolitan Foodshed and Self-Sufficiency Scenario model was used.•3 out of 9 FUA and metropolitan areas are capable to satisfy the food demand.•These 3 cities (Berlin, Wroclaw, Ostend) represent different types of urban centers.•High share of agricultural areas does not guarantee food self-sufficiency.
