摘要
•Additive manufactured PLA-based novel 3D re-entrant circular (REC) auxetic metamaterial.•Good agreement between experimental and numerical results in terms of deformation mode, failure mechanism and crushing force.•Cell numbers, geometric parameters and friction coefficients have great effects on crushing stress, specific energy absorption (SEA) and Poisson’s ratio.•3D REC metamaterial shows 7.4 times SEA compared with 2D REC honeycomb with the same relative density.
