The Hopkins School of Theory

This chapter reviews formation of a non-traditional pedagogy and school of political philosophy at Hopkins. It turns to the question of how new concepts bubble into being through resonances between surprising events, sheets of memory, and habits of thought. Several conceptual experiments are reviewed, including agonistic respect, the evangelical-capitalist resonance machine, sociocentrism, and improbable necessity.
