Learning and Short-Term Retention of Simulation-Based Arthroscopic Skills

The study examined the learning curve of a group of orthopedic residents, without prior arthroscopy experience, who practiced 3 arthroscopic skills on a simulator. The arthroscopy skill level of the residents was significantly improved after training. After 7 days of non-use, however, all 3 skills declined significantly. The greater the difficulty of the skill, the lower the skill retention rate.
