Exploring the influence of air resistance on the hollow fiber membrane process in water treatment based on ultrasonic phased array technology

•The ultrasonic phased array technology was applied to monitor released air.•Optimal parameters at the lowest air resistance level were explored.•Air resistance has a good positive correlation with air ultrasonic reflection signal.•Air dispersion and redissolution can reduce air resistance in backwash process.
