摘要
Nothapodytes foetida , is an important endangered medicinal plant with potential alkaloids. These phytoconstituents aid in the treatment of several human ailments. The current study was conducted to reveal the in vitro antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antidiabetic activities of N. foetida plant extracts and green synthesized silver nanoparticles. The antioxidant activity was evaluated by DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) radical scavenging, H 2 O 2 radical scavenging and reducing power assays; whereas anti-inflammatory activity was determined by the Human red blood cell (HRBC) membrane stabilization method and antidiabetic activity by α-amylase and α-glucosidase inhibition assays. Among all the samples tested, green synthesized silver nanoparticles exhibited potent antioxidant activity by DPPH radical scavenging (80.04 ± 0.12%), H 2 O 2 radical scavenging (78.62 ± 0.41%) and reducing power assay (0.168 ± 0.39); potent anti-inflammatory activity (89.80 ± 0.67%) and antidiabetic activity by α-amylase (80.43 ± 0.74%) and α-glucosidase (79.19 ± 0.51%). These findings strengthen the medicinal properties of N. foetida and provide a basis for the development of new drugs.
