Approaches from Related Field's to Integrate Anti-racist Initiatives into Child Welfare

Eliminating racism, specifically anti-Black racism, requires systematic organizational change at every level (e.g., structural, policy, interpersonal, and personal) with attunement to the intersections within and between each of these levels. In this article we will present advances from the fields of counseling and social psychology regarding approaches to disrupting racism and will suggest ways that these strategies might be applied to the child welfare field. Literature in both fields explicates general and specific strategies aimed at the interpersonal and personal levels that those working in child welfare agencies can integrate into organizational policy and practices in order to create a more just, anti-racist system.
