•Hydrothermal synthesis of rGO-MnO2 nanocomposite demonstrated.•Uniformity distribution of MnO2 nanoparticles completely cover the graphene oxide sheets.•Nanocomposite exhibited 57.39% anti-inflammatory and 79.95% antidiabetic activity.•rGO-MnO2 is a potent candidate for biological applications.
