Lombard effect in Algerian Dialect Speech: Investigation of boosting and bypass strategies in narrowband noisy environment

•An investigation of the influence of narrowband noise stimulus on temporal and spectral modifications of Algerian Dialect (AD) speech was conducted.•The Lombard Effect (LE) corpus of AD was built.•Lombard speech was more boosted within the frequency range of the perceptual noise.•Intensity, duration, pitch, and first formant of AD speech increased in narrowband noise.•The LE does not exhibit the same changes in AD and English language.
