Evaluation of antibacterial potential of endophytic fungi and GC-MS profiling of metabolites from Talaromyces trachyspermus

•Endophytic fungi were isolated from different healthy wild and cultivated plants and identified.•Culture filtrate of most of the test endophytic fungi showed strong antibacterial activity in vitro.•Most effective isolates of endophytic fungi were further studied for characterization of their organic compounds.•Oily n-hexane extract from mycelium and n-hexane fraction of culture filtrates of endophytic fungus Talaromyces trachyspermus revealed the presence of several compounds.
