摘要
The study aims to analyze the pilotage and port handling contract, defined by the Maritime Navigation Law as auxiliary contracts of navigation, trying to establish the existing connections between the current regulation and the activity carried out in the ports by the different professional staff in Ancient Rome. As far as the method is concerned, it should be pointed out that it is fundamentally based on the analysis of Roman legal and epigraphic sources and those contained in the current regulations, in relation to the different activities carried out, the contractual modality or the system of liability, in order to finally determine the influence of Roman Law in the configuration of the contractual typologies studied.
