摘要
The Mexican neurophysiology emerges from small biology and medical groups at the end of the XIX century when the infrastructure and research personal were limited. According to a documentary analysis, Guzman-Flores initiated his neurophysiology activities with Del Pozo's team at the UNAM, when he was a medical student searching the jump reflex in the cat. Thereafter, his work was focused on spinal cord plasticity and its regulation in cats with different somatosensory experiences. Furthermore, he was a leader in the study of the mechanisms underlying the sensory regulation associated with habituation and cognitive processes. His abilities as an instrument designer, brain location electrodes technique and digital recording procedures for neuronal activity were highly recognized. His relevant teaching labor at the postgraduate and postdoctoral training programs had a great impact on neurobiology, neurodevelopment, and neuroendocrinology fields. He was one of the first full-time UNAM researchers, and because of his relevant scientific carrier was recognized as emeritus professor of the UNAM, emeritus of the SNI, and prize of the Mexican Academy of Sciences.
