Microbiome-metabolomics analysis insight into the effects of dietary resistant starch on intestinal integrity

•Raw potato-resistant starch (RS) had better performance in enhancing gut integrity.•RS contributed to growth of beneficial bacteria and butyrate-producing bacteria.•Amino acid metabolism was typical metabolic pathway altered by RS administration.•Metabolites altered by resistant starch had highly correlation with gut microbiota.
