Self-employment and Life Satisfaction: The Moderating Role of Perceived Importance of Family, Friends, Leisure Time, and Work

•We examine the moderating role of perceived importance of family, friends, leisure time and work on the link between self-employment and life satisfaction.•Individual-level data from Wave 7 of the World Value Survey (WVS) are used.•Probit Ordered regression is applied.•Higher levels of importance of family, friends and leisure time worsen the life satisfaction condition of self-employed people.
