•Both glioma tissues and cell lines expressed immunoglobulin.•Glioma-derived IgG promoted proliferation and migration of glioma cells.•Reduction of IgG expression inhibited the growth of gliomas in mice.•Glioma-derived IgG may be a potential new target for glioma immunotherapy.
