Discovery of 2-(isoxazol-5-yl)phenyl 3,4-dihydroxybenzoate as a potential inhibitor for the Wnt/β-catenin pathway

•S11 showed strong proliferation inhibition effect and excellent selectivity index against Wnt hyperactive cancer cells.•S11 could obvioudsly decrease the nucleus translocation of β-catenin.•S11 could effectively disrupt β-catenin/BCL9 protein-protein interaction.•S11 did not affect the levels of total β-catenin.
