摘要

•The frequency of gastrointestinal symptoms (GS) was positively associated with the use of mood stabilizers and benzodiazepines in MDD patients.•MDD patients with a higher frequency of GS were prone to report side effects and ineffectiveness as reasons for spontaneous drug discontinuation.•The presence of GS was an independent and significant risk factor for spontaneous drug discontinuation.
