Gender differences in endowed chairs in Departments of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences from the top-10 NIH-funded medical schools in the US

•This is the first study to explore gender disparities in Psychiatry endowed chairs.•Overall models found that women were more likely to hold endowed chairs than men.•For faculty with an MD, gender was not associated with holding an endowed chair.•For faculty with a PhD, women were more likely to hold endowed chairs than men.
