摘要

•The SAP model is established by considering the particle complexity of soils.•A new relationship between the particle radius and the pore radius is derived.•The SAP model makes the SWCCs independent of the mass of the soil sample.•A meaningful shape coefficient in physics is used to describe the tortuous pore path.•The SAP model provides more accurate and stable SWCCs than the AP model.
