Investigation of a breast cancer magnetic hyperthermia through mathematical modeling of intratumoral nanoparticle distribution and temperature elevations

摘要
•Realistic breast model with in-vivo tumor architecture and transvascular exchange is used to replicate clinical scenario.•Idealistic uniform and Gaussian distributions were compared against distribution of single-site intratumoral infusion.•Idealistic distribution patterns result in hyperthermia temperatures however, achieving these distributions is impossible.•Single-site injections results in temperatures beyond the limits of real hyperthermia but non-uniform therapeutic effect.•Multi-site intratumoral injections need to be investigated to achieve therapeutic temperature elevations throughout tumor.
