Functional analysis of ABCG2 gene in pigment transport of Neocaridina denticulata sinensis

•qPCR results of tissues showed that the ABCG2 was highly expressed in the epidermis and compound eye.•The ABCG2 was expressed in whole embryo development stages, and its expression level was increased from the pre-nauplius stage to the membrane-zoea stage.•WFISH revealed that the ABCG2 gene was mainly distributed in (compound eye pigment cell) CEPC.•The results of RNAi revealed that the ABCG2 might involve in pigment transport.
