We have developed a new filtering technique for suppressing coherent and random noise from seismic data by applying an adaptive thresholding method in the localized frequency-wavenumber (f-k) domain of prestack seismic gathers. The propose method is effective on handling highly complex geologic sections with conflicting dips and steeply dipping coherent noise.
