摘要
A study was undertaken on farmer’s field with an aim to know the pattern of energy utilization duringtillage operation in Indo-Gangectic Plain. A total of 120 farmers were selected from Punjab, Haryana andUttar Pradesh (western UP) based on mechanization level by stratified random sampling technique. Theinformation on different aspects related to tillage machinery ownership, usage, operational conditions andfuel consumption were collected by personal interview. The analysed data revealed that 2-4 ha land sizecould be considered as the threshold level for the farmers to own a tractor in the selected study area.Further, 100 % of the large farmers and 90.91 % medium farmers were found to be tractor owners. On thecontrary, 83.33 % marginal farmers and 80 % of small farmers used tractor on custom hiring basis. Forrotavator the minimum energy consumption was observed with gear of low second. It was observed thatvariations in fuel consumption during tillage operation is mainly attributed to field condition (38%) , correctmatching of tractor and implement system (30%), tillage depth (19%) and skill of operator (9%).
