The use of electrochemical sensors in a wide range of commercial applications has increased greatly over the years. These types of sensors are currently fetching much research attention because of their intriguing factors such as the acquisition of signals using an electron which in turn provides a clean model for analytical purposes, rapid analysis, low-cost production, miniaturization of sensor devices, etc. In terms of analytical performance, electrochemical sensors offer high sensitivity and selectivity with specific and precise detection of analytes. Despite the fact that a variety of sophisticated materials have been used in the creation of electrochemical sensors in recent years, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have attracted the most attention. MOFs as a promising material have great potential for electrochemical applications because of their excellent properties. However, the poor stability and lack of conductivity of some MOFs impede them. So, in order to improve the performance of the sensing systems, MOFs are being used with different other materials. The objective of this chapter is mainly to summarize the major developments in the field of electrochemical sensing using MOFs, including MOF composites and MOF-derived materials, during the past recent years.
