Effect of Misalignment of the Sensitive Axes of Accelerometers on the Performance of Highly Directional Acoustic Vector Sensor

This study deals with the effect of misalignment of the sensitive axes of accelerometers on the beam pattern of highly directional acoustic vector sensor. A pair of uniaxial accelerometers placed horizontally are simulated for error in alignment in COMSOL Multiphysics virtual environment. The analysis is performed by varying inter sensor spacing and angle of sensor placement in all three axes. The obtained beam pattern due to misalignment is compared with beam pattern of true placement of sensors and conclusions are drawn.
