•N-TMS-2-pyridinamine dimethyl-aluminum has the property of converting the dormant state(dimer) to the better volatile active state(monomer) by adjusting its configuration by temperature, which can provide a case study for the development of dormant precursors.•The enthalpy of evaporation(ΔHvapour) is applied to the study of N-TMS-2-pyridinamine dimethyl-aluminum(dimer) depolymerization.
