Nitrogen-rich accordion-like lignin porous carbon via confined self-assembly template and in-situ mild activation strategy for high-performance supercapacitors

Nitrogen-doped accordion-like lignin porous carbon with ultrahigh edge-nitrogen doping level has been synthesized via a confined self-assembly template and in-situ mild activation strategy. The full use of nanopores provided high electrical double-layer capacitance and the high-level N doping provided sufficient electrochemically active sites for Faradic reactions to offer pseudocapacitance, making the nitrogen-doped lignin porous carbon show both superior gravimetric capacitance and surface-area-normalized capacitance.
