Reponse of second-line treatment in focal status epilepticus: A tertiary hospital experience

•79.7 % of focal status epilepticus responded to consecutive antiseizure drugs.•Only 27.5 % of the episodes resolved with a single antiseizure medication.•Combination of different antiseizure drugs might be useful for prompt resolution.•There were no differences in the treatment response according to the semiology.•Early termination of status epilepticus confers a better functional outcome.
