摘要
In the next decades, a significant increase in the number of vehicles traditionally powered by fossil fuel is expected to make the transition to electrification. The forecasted decarbonization may have a great impact on the medium voltage (MV) distribution network, causing congestion at parts of the MV grid due to fast, ultra-fast and mega charging stations. This paper will analyze in depth the use-cases of an on-load tap changer (OLTC) distribution transformer with the aim of optimizing the existing MV distribution network. This OLTC transformer could help Distribution System Operators (DSOs) in making an active network operation strategy with dynamic load management, increasing the number of charging stations and the generation of renewable energy connected to the existing MV grid.
