摘要

•Groundwater pollution from pit latrines in an informal settlement was investigated.•Vibrio cholerae ompW genes cooccurred with HF183 sewage marker genes.•Observations suggested 5% asymptomatic Vibrio cholerae carriers in the community.•16S gene sequencing indicated faecal pollution of boreholes in the rainy season.•QMRA predicted a gastrointestinal disease burden of 0.05 DALY per person per year.
