Rapid nighttime haze removal with color-gray layer decomposition

•Based on the presented color-gray layer decomposition, a new nighttime dehazing framework is proposed to rapidly recover the high-quality nighttime scene radiance.•A simple yet efficient glow decomposition approach is proposed to eliminate glowing effects while avoiding color artifacts.•A relative weighted guided image filter is devised to improve the edge-preserving ability.
