Post-polymerization modifiable aromatic (co)poly(ether sulfone)s possessing pendant norbornenyl groups based upon a new bisphenol

•A new bisphenol possessing pendant norbornenyl group was synthesized.•Pendant norbornenyl-functionalized (co)poly(ether sulfone)s were synthesized.•Polymers exhibited reasonably high molecular weights and film-forming characteristics.•Thiol-norbornene reaction was exploited for post-modification of (co)poly(ether sulfone)s.
