The effect of concentrate feeding strategy and dairy cow genotype on milk production, pasture intake, body condition score and metabolic status under restricted grazing conditions

•Concentrate feeding strategy had an impact on milk performance.•Lower fertility genotypes had an improved yield on the "feed to yield" treatment.•Higher fertility genotypes did not have improved yield on the "feed to yield" treatment.•Higher fertility genotypes are capable of higher fat and protein yields on restricted feed.
