A new strategy based on duplex-specific nuclease and DNA aptamer with modified hairpin structure for various analytes detection

•DSN induced signal amplification was coupled with DNA aptasensor for extensive analytes beyond microRNA.•DNA aptamers can resist DSN cleavage by delicately designing their secondary structure and methoxyl modification.•The enhanced aptasensor performance was successfully achieved with DSN induced signal amplification.
