•The protein pre-treated strategy was demonstrated as an effective pre-correction way to monitor biomolecules.•The gelatin-MWCNTs functionalized CFME was fabricated.•The protein pre-treated gelatin-MWCNTs/CFME presented high stability, selectivity, well-maintained sensitivity.•The gelatin-MWCNTs presented excellent biocompatibility.
