Research on Communication System of Microgrid Based on IEC61850.

Communication network performance has become one of the critical factors affecting the operation and control of microgrids. The paper proposes applying IEC61850 standard and three-tier communication architecture of smart substations to the microgrid communication network to unify micro-grid communication standards. A small microgrid communication system based on an embedded merging unit is set up, which tests the real-time and reliability of communication between distributed devices and the control center. Policies have been proposed to solve discovery problems and increase communication latency caused by message conflicts. The transmission delay of the improved communication message meets the requirements of IEC61850 standard.
