Neology and 'Verlan'

Our study focuses on verlan, which is an lexicogenic process, and on its relationship with neology. We will try to focus on the studies on neology (Tournier 2009, Sablayrolles 2019) in order to locate (or exclude?) the verlan of research on neology. On the basis of the work of linguists (Walter 1984, Mela 1988, Goudaillier 1996) we will try take stock of the current state of research on verlan and propose an updated typology based on recent rap texts (2019). Then we will have to position verlan in relation to the processes responsible for neological creation as we can find in the chart of the lexicogenic matrices of Sablayrolles.
