Porous cellulose acetate mixed-matrix membrane adsorbents for efficient clearance of p-cresol and creatinine from synthetic serum

摘要
•Porous cellulose acetate (CA) MMMs incorporating various adsorbents (AC, ZO, and GO) were prepared.•The optimal conditions for preparing various MMMs and their surface area/pore properties were determined.•The AC/CA MMM yielded the maximum adsorption of PC (103.0 mg/g) and CRT (137.0 mg/g) at 37 °C.•In closed-loop tests, 82.0% of 50-mg/L PC but 8.0% of 150-mg/L CRT was removed within 4 h using the AC/CA MMM.•The treated media including various MMMs showed excellent biocompatibility, hemocompatibility, and stability.
