New approach for blueberry firmness grading to improve the shelf-life along the supply chain

•The durometer (53215 TP–Turoni, I) is useful to classify berries ripening stages.•Digital durometer evenly divides batches with greater precision than colorimeter.•Strong regression has found among texture and C color index and titratable acidity.•Digital durometer can be a cheap and quick tool to improve blueberry shelf-life.
