摘要
Catalysts applied to oxygen evolution reaction (OER) are essential for scaled-up sustainable energy storage thorough converting water to O 2 and H 2 fuel. It makes significant sense to develop energy and time-efficient approaches to prepare active and stable OER catalysts for H 2 generation through electrochemical water-splitting, but it is still a great challenge. In this work, we designed a reliable quenching strategy to construct homogeneous array of sulfur-modified Co(OH) 2 nanosheets for efficient water electrolysis. Specifically, the S-Co(OH) 2 electrodes performed excellent OER behavior, delivering a current density of 100 mA cm −2 at a low overpotential of 323 mV, exhibiting a small Tafel slope of 62.5 mV dec −1 and maintaining approximately ~ 90% of the original current density after 20 h of chronoamperometry testing. This study proposes an efficient and economical of surface modification way to construct efficient and robust OER electrodes, which has important implications for electrochemical energy conversion. Graphical abstract The high-performance sulfur-modified cobalt hydroxide self-supported electrode was developed by quenching strategy.
