Impact of Reperfusion on Clinical Outcomes in Patients with Intermediate-High Risk Pulmonary Embolism
Current Problems in Cardiology(2022)
摘要
•Mortality and prognosis of pulmonary embolism (PE) depend on clinical presentation and its proper stratification.•The benefit of pulmonary reperfusion (R) is still uncertain in intermediate-high risk PE, but a few new studies showed benefit with R•Of a cohort of intermediate-high PE patients, 16% received R treatment, either with systemic thrombolytics (89%), endovascular treatment (7%) or surgery (4%).•Bilateral PE, persistent dyspnea and age less than 70 years were independent predictors of R. There was a trend towards a reduction in mortality in R patients, without differences in total or major bleeding. This difference supports the indication of R according to current worldwide trends.
