摘要

•A data-driven and a hybrid RTM approach were used for SMC retrieval from UAS data.•The results for grassland sites differ due to hydrologic conditions and management.•Data-driven models are dependent on LAI and land-use such as mowing and irrigation.•For the hybrid RTM, SMC retrieval was only applicable to areas with limited LAI.•Transferability is very limited given for the spectral range of the utilized hyperspectral data.
